The Alabama Department of Insurance utilizes a variety of job classifications in
meeting our mission to serve the people of Alabama. The following is a list of some
of these job classifications along with levels of advancement:
Insurance Examiner I - 11231
College graduates possessing a Bachelor degree with a major in Accounting, Business
Administration, Actuarial Science, Insurance or a closely related field and one
year of professional experience in accounting, finance or insurance may be employed
in this classification.
To apply for the above position, complete/submit an official State of Alabama Application
for Examination (Form 3). This form is available from the State of Alabama Personnel
Department, P. O. Box 304100, Montgomery, AL 36130-4100 or it may be downloaded
from the website at www.personnel.alabama.gov.

State Professional Trainee - 11915
This classification will be used to understudy the Insurance Examiner I (11231)
position. It is a Limited Tenure Appointment and it can last for no more than two
years. To maintain employment, appointees are encouraged to apply for the Insurance
