To The Fire Protection Industry:
We are pleased to announce that the State Fire Marshal's Office now has its own website. The new website link is www.firemarshal.alabama.gov. Please visit our site often for press releases, code changes and answers to other questions about who we are and what we do.
Beginning October, 2011, we weill start making your permit numbers permanent so that your company will be able to print your permit number on tags, letterhead, etc.You will keep your permit number as assigned to you during the 2011 - 2012 permit year. Each company must remember that even though their permit number will not change, if your permit expires, you will be fined for not renewing prior to beginning work. This will be an adjustment period for all concerned since this is a new process.
Beginning mid October, we will have available on our website the Sprinkler and Fire Alarm Contractor Applications. This will allow each company to submit their application, documentation and payment online. Any documentation can be attached as a PDF file. These online applications will be available under the Permit Section of our website.
Later this year we will also have available to the public a search area for the Sprinkler and Fire alarm Contractors that are licensed and approved by the State Fire Marshal's Office. This will aid the industry, city and county officials as well as fire inspectors.
Thanks to all for your investment in keeping Alabama safe. If you have any questions, please contact our office and speak with one of our knowledgeable staff members.
Sincerely,
Edward S Paulk
State Fire Marshal
