Firefighters responded to a 6:30 a.m. structure fire Friday Morning August 28, at 18 Cemetery Road in Hayneville. The fire caused extensive damage to the rear of the Green Chapel Funeral Home primarily in the funeral chapel area. Damage to the front of the building in the office areas appears to be confined mostly to minor smoke damage. Cause of the fire is as of yet undetermined and foul play is not suspected though the fire remains under investigation by the ASFMO.
