The fire that destroyed the Tuskegee News newspaper office and the Macon County Community Action Office as well as heavily damage the office of attorney Fred Gray remains under investigation.
"We have been coordinating with Tuskegee authorities on this investigation," said Acting State Fire Marshal Richard Montgomery. "At this point, it does not appear to be a case of foul play, but we want to be thorough in our investigation."
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning on Eastside Street in Tuskegee. Montgomery said it appears the fire started in the Tuskegee News building and spreak to the adjacent buildings.
Twelve fire departments assisted the Tuskegee Fire Department in fighting the fire, in which no one was injured.
