A 69-year-old Bay Minette man died in a house fire early Thursday morning.
Herman Visser lost his life in a fire that was reported at 6:51 a.m.
"It appears that some ordinary combustible materials were placed too close to a natural gas heater," said Acting State Fire Marshal Richard Montgomery.
The Alabama State Fire Marshals Office and the Bay Minette Fire Department are continuing a joint investigation of the fire.
