Smiths Station resident George M. Trimnel, age 46, died Wednesday August 13th during a fire at his mobile home. The fire at 760 Lee Road 330, was reported around 8:00 AM. Mr. Trimnel was alone in the home when the fire occurred.
The victim and his wife were having domestic problems, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office had been called to the scene the night before the fire. At that time Mrs. Trimnel told deputies her husband threatened to burn the house and kill himself.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office investigated the fire and death.
