Two men were injured Monday July 21 when one went to the aid of the second who had caught fire while burning trash.
Investigators with the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say a 42 year-old Chalybeate Community resident was burning trash in a 55 gallon drum when he poured gasoline into the drum. An explosion occurred and the man’s 73 year-old father tried to put his son out by rolling him on the ground.
Both men were transported from the scene at 259 County Road 302 to Decatur General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
