No injuries were reported today following an explosion at Magnolia One Apartments, 103 South Cypress Street.  Two exterior walls on the eighth floor of the building were damaged, one totally separating from the building then falling to the ground below and the other being knocked loose.

Investigators with the Florence Fire and Police Department; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office determined the explosion occurred after an occupant placed an aerosol can of spray paint on the eye of an electric stove and accidentally caused the control switch of the eye to come on.  The heat from the stove eye heated the can causing the explosion which was reported at 12:34 PM.
