One child was killed Thursday afternoon in a doublewide mobile home fire in Winston County. The child’s mother and a two-year-old sibling were injured in the fire that occurred around 12:38 PM at 358 County Road 132 near Addison. Names of the victims were withheld pending notification of relatives.
Investigators say the mother had fallen asleep in the living room and awoke to discover the fire. The mother and injured child were taken to Walker Regional Medical Center in Jasper before being transferred to the University of Alabama Birmingham Burn Center.
At the present time, investigators from the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
