Investigators with the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office arrested an Equality volunteer firefighter this afternoon, charging him with two counts of Arson Second Degree.
David Earl Brown, age 20, of Route 1, Box 75, Equality, AL was charged with the burning of a barn on January 13th and the burning of a house on January 27th. The barn was located on Selef Road and the house on Highway 9 in Equality. Brown is currently being held in the Coosa County Jail.
Additional charges may be filed against Brown regarding other suspicious fires which have occurred in the Equality Volunteer Fire Department response area over the past several months. The Equality Volunteer Fire Department assisted fire marshals during the investigation providing information which helped to identify Brown. The Alabama State Fire Marshals Office is also appreciative of the assistance provided by the public during these investigations.
