A mobile home fire Tuesday night claimed the life of one person and injured a second. Tonya M. Farr age 23 was killed when fire heavily damaged the single wide mobile home she and her mother occupied at 141 Pledgeville Road.
Pamela Joy Farr, age 40, sustained injuries from smoke inhalation and minor burns. Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
The occupants of the home were awakened by a family dog barking. Pamela Farr was able to escape the home while her daughter was not. A smoke detector previously installed in the home had been removed due to repair work.
At the present time the cause of the fire is under investigation by local authorities and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office. An autopsy has been scheduled by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
