One adult died yesterday during a fire at 2905 County Road 412 near Minter. The fire was discovered by hunters between 10:00 and 11:00 AM. Volunteer fire departments from Craig Field, Sardis and Carlowville responded to the alarm.
Killed in the fire was 79 year-old Johnnie Reed. Mr. Reed and his brother Pettaway Reed lived in the one story eight room house, however the victim’s brother was not home when the fire began.
The fire and death are currently under investigation by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office. Investigators are awaiting results of an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
