Fourteen year old Misty Barnwell of 1369 County Road 24 Delta died January 6th from injuries received in a fire at her home. The fire was reported at 5:08 AM and Ms. Barnwell was pronounced dead at 6:26 AM at the Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
An investigation of the fire and death by the Alabama Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office revealed the fire occurred due to a leak at a gas space heater. The fire originated in the living room area of the home and Ms. Barnwell was found in the kitchen.
