Investigators determined late this morning that the early morning fire at the Bragg Hill AME Zion Church near Greenville was accidental.
Investigators with the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say congregation members were at the church yesterday preparing for a service today. Members were cleaning up inside the church and used water heated on an electric stove to clean the floor. A pot was left sitting on an eye of the stove and the eye had been left on. The pot eventually heated to the point that it ignited combustibles in the area of the stove.
