Investigators with the Pell City Fire and Police Departments, as well as the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office, are investigating an early morning fire in Pell City.
The fire, at a travel trailer on Lakeside Landing, was reported at 2:37 this morning. The fire originated in a bedroom of the trailer, while the victim was found three feet from the front door. The name of the adult victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The cause and circumstances of the fire and death are currently under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The remains of a smoke detector/alarm were found in the trailer, however, it is not known at this time if the device was operable at the time of the fire.
