Investigators from the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office have determined the fire at the Elmore Correctional Facility Recycling Warehouse on Wednesday August 13th was accidental.
Investigators from the Alabama Department of Corrections and fire marshals office questioned more than one hundred people following the 3:15 PM fire that totally destroyed the warehouse and contents. During the interviews and examination of the scene, no information or evidence was found to indicate the fire was intentionally set.
The fire originated near the front door and spread quickly throughout the building, due to the large quantity of baled paper, cloth, cardboard and plastic.
