The cause of the fire in the Hanover Community of Coosa County has been determined to be electrical.
Based on examination of the scene and eyewitness reports, the point of origin of the fire was identified as behind the television set in the den. Several electrical appliance cords were connected to an adapter connected to an electrical wall receptacle behind the television. Following an electrical short occurring, fire spread throughout the house. No smoke alarms were present in the home.
