Child Dies in Fire

A late afternoon fire just outside the city limits of Phenix City resulted in the death of one child, with injuries to one adult and two other children. The fire at 25 Price Road was reported around 4:30 PM Eastern time. The Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire in the one story wood frame house. At the present time it is unknown if any smoke detector/alarms were installed in the home. The fire in under investigation by the Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department, Phenix City Police Department and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office. At this time the fire appear to have occurred when combustibles were placed too close to heating equipment.
