A Sunday morning fire took the life of Horton resident Frances T. Jones. The fire at 883 Otinger Road was reported to the Douglas Fire Department around 1:48 AM November 4th. The victim’s husband was able to escape, but was unable to rescue his invalid wife.
Investigators with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office have determined the cause of the fire to be an electric stove which had been left on and unattended in the mobile home.
