One Florence resident died Monday afternoon during at a fire at their home at 3020 Woodard Avenue.
Laymon E. Myrick, age sixty-eight died when an electrical malfunction involving the service entrance from the meter base to the electrical panel, started the fire. The malfunction apparently interrupted the electrical service to the smoke alarm in the home, causing it to fail. The fire was reported at 3:44 PM.
