Acting Commissioner David Parsons today announced a phone number that will be available for consumers to use in order to contact Department personnel in the event of a Y2K emergency. This number will be available for use after December 31, 1999.
In the event of an emergency anyone with phone service can contact the Department of Insurance by calling (334) 850-5030. This line will be operational even if the Department’s regular phone service is interrupted due to a Y2K problem.
The installation of this telephone line is a part of the Department of Insurance’s overall contingency plan for Y2K preparedness.
