Investigators from the State Fire Marshal have identified the cause of the fire New Years Eve night at Riverside Parc Apartments in Birmingham as accidental.
The fire originated at a fireplace where fire brick had been removed allowing heat from numerous fires prior to New Years Eve night to lower the ignition temperature of nearby wood.
The fire at 626 Cahaba Forest Cove occurred between 7:45 and 7:53 PM. No injuries were reported.
