ALDOI recognizes Blue Cross Blue Shield for premium relief to customers

The Alabama Department of Insurance would like to extend our appreciation to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama as they announce $80 million in premium discounts to policyholders during the month of November.

The insurer will discount health premiums by 20 percent and dental premiums by 50 percent for most fully insured individual, employer and Medicare plans during November. Customers who have both medical and dental coverage will receive both discounts.

“The COVID-19 crisis has impacted Alabamians in many ways, including financially,” said Insurance Commissioner Jim Ridling. “We thank Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama for helping relieve some of the financial stress caused by these unprecedented times.” 

The one-time discounts will be automatically applied to invoices.
