As of January 1, successful completion of the examination for the appropriate line of authority is still required to secure a license; however, the Department will no longer require, regulate, recommend, approve, or authorize pre-licensing education courses, including state-equivalent exams. Anyone planning to take any license examination may still consider taking a training course. Schools approved by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) may be found on the ACCS website: https://psl.asc.edu/external/viewapproved.aspx  An association providing training for its members and an employer providing training for its employees are exempt from the licensing requirements of the ACCS.
